Nutramigen LGG for suspected CMPA

Hi all

My 3 week old preemie has just been prescribed Nutramigen LGG for a possible CMPA. She was previously formula fed on Kendamil and was doing well, gained the initial loss back to her birth weight by Day 14 after an 8.3% loss on Day 3, so we know she has been feeding really well. She is taking 60-90mls every 3 hours. Unfortunately she has recently had a large number of bloody stools and because of her risk factors we were sent to A&E and the children's unit kept her in for tests and ultimately suggested CMPA as the most likely cause.

We've started her on the Nutramigen straight away and she has taken to it really quickly, but she is struggling with vomiting and milk streaming from her nostrils after every feed. She is only using size 0 teats now after moving up to 1's on her previous formula, but a friend suggested 0's would be better initially due to the thin formula as Kendamil is very thick in comparison. She is fed as upright as possible and we aren't putting her lying down until 45-60mins after feeds but still having issues.

Can anyone advise on anything else we can try to help with the vomiting/nose streaming?

You can ask for the thickener carobel to be prescribed. I’m not sure if you can buy it. Might be worth asking either the pharmacist or hv.
