Ive been Ebf my 7 week old but it has been very difficult since the beginning. I was struggling with the latch and I’d be on the sofa from 8am-1am feeding him.!On top of that he has been sick with a cold on and for 4 weeks. Despite all this I kept on going and thought it’d get easier. I kept going to my local support and finally she checked his tongue last week and saw he had a posterior tongue which was causing him to not be sucking efficiently. I kept having him weighed throughout all this and his weight gain has been good. but I feel like now he’s not satisfied with the amount of milk he’s getting. Nighttime I feel like I have a good amount of milk for him but early morning and afternoon it’s like he barely gets anything. I really do feel like the minor sickness he’s had with having a tongue has caused my supply to reduce. I have a 2 year old too and this has all been so hard. I really wanted to ebf but feel like I’m gona have to give him top ups as he becomes so upset when he doesn’t get a lot. Is there any way I can up my supply fast and maintain it or has it already been established?

To up your supply you need to keep feeding as much as possible. It's really hard work I know, but bodies are amazing and your supply will magically adjust. Also make sure you are eating well, taking vitamins and getting as much rest as possible- all tricky with a toddler 😔

Milk quality is supposed to be better overnight as the hormones rise.

If you start supplementing with formula your body won't get the signals to increase supply - so if baby weight gain stays good I would avoid doing that.
