Mastitis help and pumping vicious cycle

I currently have mastitis and having tried to get rid of it on my own, found that the awful flu symptoms came back a couple of times and so am on a weeks course of antibiotics. This has helped the flu symptoms but I'm worried it will come back after as I seem to have sore knot like ducts popping up everywhere. I've done everything recommended:

  • changed feeding positions
  • no wired bras
  • changed breast pads regularly
  • alternate breasts
-pump any missed feeds

My first question - is it normal to have hard knot feeling ducts sometimes, even after a feed or pumping?

Secondly - I'm worried I'm pumping too much (after morning feed, at 7pm when we give an expressed bottle and then when I feel too full). Aware the more I pump the more I will produce and so I wondered how is best to get off that train?

Is there anything else I can do better or differently to stop mastitis, it's the absolute worst and making breastfeeding so unenjoyable! Thank you xxx
