Hi

looking for some advice. Son is 13 months. Never been the biggest fan of milk and once started weaning loved that more. He eats really well and has a multi vitamin and probiotic a day.

but I’m worried about his milk intake. He has a 7oz of were lucky bottle before bed. As he normally wakes at least once would get maybe 5oz into him at night. Never wanted a bottle when he woke. He slept through last night first time so didn’t get a bottle in the night but I tried this morning thinking he would be hungry and didn’t want it

he hasn’t worked out a straw yet but has plenty of water during the day at least 5oz plus plenty of dairy in terms of cheese/yoghurt and milk in his porridge/cereal

when is it ok for them to not have a bottle or just very small amounts? I suspect he will soon not want his bedtime bottle

anyone had similar?

They don't need any formula, specifically. I think the NHS guidance is 350ml cows milk per day or equivalent dairy. So if you give them cereal with milk or porridge and then cheese/yoghurt etc it's fine.

Total agree. The guidance is 300 ml or 10 Floz of full fat cows milk a day.

Like the pp said it can include things like milk in porridge, pancakes, fish pie, rice pudding.

I'd offer him a cup of cows milk with his breakfast and not stress about bottles in the day or at night.

If he’s not fussed about the bottle then definitely ditch it; they shouldn’t have them after 12 months because they’re bad for teeth. He needs 300ml of cows milk but if he doesn’t want to drink it then it’s fine to consume as part of a balanced diet like milk on cereal, cheese, yoghurt etc, which he sounds like he’s already doing. So absolutely nothing to worry about!
