6 month old refusing bottle

Hi there
My baby girl is 6 and a half months old. She spent 4 days really constipated, I took her to the doctors and they wasn't really much help just said to give her water and apple juice which is what I had been doing anyway. She did eventually manage to go yesterday but she just isn't taking her feeds and I'm so worried. It's day 5 now and I physically cannot get more than 10oz in her a day 😞 I don't know if she won't drink because she's scared it will hurt her belly because of her having constipation or what, she's not the biggest baby anyway currently weighing bang on 15lb. She is having little bits of pouches and water but I'm just worried about the milk because I know that's the priority at this age. Has anybody got any tips? I'm hoping maybe she will go back to normal in a couple of days I don't know 🥹

They often have trouble when you start weaning, due to the change. Can you give her anything mixed with formula, like a baby porridge, to get the milk in?

I’d get rid of the pouches entirely and give her proper food with formula mixed in - porridge for breakfast, cheesy pasta for lunch, mash, white sauce etc.

Usually when they go on bottle strike it only lasts a few days, but make sure she’s having decent food rather than UPF baby stuff whilst you keep offering bottles.

Which milk are you offering OP? If she's on a follow-on milk I'd swap back to first stage as the added iron in follow-on and toddler milks can cause constipation.

I think I'd call 111 if she's only having 10 floz and I'd also stop all solids or only offer once a day and give something like prune purée.

Poor little thing.

When she has pooed, what do they look like?
Does her tummy feel hard, or soft?
