At my wits end / REFLUX & ECZEMA

My 6 month old baby has severe reflux and severe eczema. The eczema is awful , his head weaps with cradle cap he goes crazy itching his head until he bleeds , the eczema is around his whole body it's awful. He has a prescribed shampoo, bath lotion & steroid creams & nothing is changing. His reflux is absolutely awful, his reflux has been going on since he was 6 weeks old, he's been on 8 different formulas including an anti reflux formula, he's been on carobel, gaviscon & omeprazole, dr said to give omeprazole a week it's been 11 days and no change. He's currently on nutramigen for suspected cmpa as he has symptoms however the nutramigen never fixed any symptoms so I don't know. I'm really at my wits end with the reflux , I change him every hour , I also change myself multiple times a day as I get covered in spew also. My house is covered in spew , im changing my bed sheets a lot more often as he spews over my bed, his cot sheet gets changed everyday, he just can't keep his feeds down at all. I feel so sorry on him , his itchy head drives him crazy , he spews like crazy . The dr told me if the omeprazole didn't work the next step would be a referral to the hospital to see a paediatrician. I'm scared incase he'll need surgery. Or will he just grow out of it? I'm rambling now but I'm starting to get so stressed! I'll ring the dr tomorrow. Did anyone else's LO suffer with reflux etc?

Sounds horrendous for you OP, and not suprising you are at your wits end. I would ask for referrals to a Paediatrician, dietician and also Dermatology. At this point I would also ask to trial Neocate as an alternative to the Nutramigen.

Another vote for asking to trial Neocate and for those referrals. I'd also request a referral to a Paediatric Dietician.

The dosage of omeprazole may need to be higher. It was trial and error for my son.
it doesn’t stop the puking but helps ease the pain. We had carobel in his milk to help keep his feeds down( again trial and error) and then held him up for half an hour after each feed. Paediatrician also recommended early weaning as solids will stay down easier.
My son grew out of his Reflux around 13-14 months. He was officially diagnosed with having GORD. I understand the frustration with puke everywhere.

for eczema he had double base and dermol but the best thing for him has been epaderm ointment- it’s greasy but his skin is smooth and doesn’t itch as much.
