One boob or two? Advice really appreciated

I'm feeding my 4 month ds from both breasts at each feed, unless it's a 'calm down' type feed where he gets one. Most other people I speak to are feeding from one only. I started on two because he was very small - 2nd centile - and didn't put on much weight one week, whereas the next week after being fed with both breasts, he put on double the weight. Would it be possible to go back to one boob per feed or would I have to feed him much more often to get the production back up? Does anyone else feed with both at each feed? Should I just carry on as I have been, since he's still putting on weight, although still relatively titchy?
Anyone else's advice/experience much appreciated. TIA

I always fed with 2. Advice at the time was if baby accepted 2nd boob he/she needed it and if full he/she'd have refused.

Always offer second breast. If the baby doesn't want it he won't take it. My babies often had 4 ie back on again if unsettled

I always just give the one boob at a time, letting DS stay on until he pulled himself off, which could be anything from 15 mins to 30 mins. Never really did the two boob thing and it's worked for me and him. He's a big lad too - 9lb at birth and is now a very healthy big 4 month old!
