I want to start trying for another dc, but dd (10mo co-sleeper) helps herself to boob all night and bf counsellor just told me it's the nightfeeding that is most likely to stop you ovulating. Been a complete hippy AP type so far but want to move this on - where do I begin and is it possible to night wean and co-sleep? I reckon left to her own devices dd would carry on like this for at least another year...

(am trying no cry sleep solution right now but not brilliantly hopeful...)

Breast feeding may stop ovulating but won't def stop ovulating - just wait and see? I know several people who got conceived while still feeding.

There are no hard and fast rules about this. Everybody is different.

I would recommend this book to help you figure out exactly what is going on.

I am still bf 2.5yo ds and have found that although I am ovulating, it happens much later in my cycle, making my luteal phase too short for implantation. I was trying to cut down gradually for a while, but ds isn't ready so I have decided just to wait until he is.

I guess you need to weigh up whether you are ready to cut down or stop in order to conceive, or if you are happier to wait.
