Cluster feeding or something else?

Last night and tonight my 13 day old EBF baby has wanted to feed pretty much non stop for three hours when we're trying to get him settled for bed! Doesn't seem remotely tired, eyes open, cries when I try to put him down and starts rooting when not on the boob when trying to settle him...

Breast feeding is going well, he's putting on weight and lots of wet nappies! So I don't think he's not getting enough.,. Is this just regular old cluster feeding? He does seem quite windy if that makes a difference...

i have a 17 day old ebf baby and have had this too. They grow so much and can need feeding a lot. ive Had days or nights of cluster feeding and then it has been more usual the next day.

@lucya66 I thought cluster feeding meant feeding every hour not every five minutes! 😅 but glad to know it's not just me!!

Very normal. Keep yourself hydrated / fed as well. I remember having to go make a sandwhich in the early hours one night cus the feeding was taking so much from me!

@squirrelnutkins1 don't want to jinx it but I think he's on the verge of sleep!! You've just reminded me to go get some water before I also try and get some sleep, thank you!

Yes my baby wants feeding all the time. She feeds, comes off, wants burping. Then wants more. It’s quite relentless.

I’ve not found any routine yet with naps, wake windows or feeding. Just going with what she wants atm.

Yep really normal! I had plenty of nights with 3 hour constant feeding, find a good series and settle in 🤣. You're doing great amazing xx

I see your sandwich, and raise you a big plate of lasagne. About 3am, baby cluster feeding like mad, I was starved!

@amalfilemonpie amazing 😂

Totally normal - better to follow their lead at such a young age IMO. They're cluster feeding and trying to establish and increase your milk supply and they've not got an established circadian rhythm yet either.

I had a period of about four weeks where baby fed pretty much all night from 4pm to 10pm, it was exhausting but she thrived and breastfeeding obviously settled down eventually!
