Hi there I need some advice
my little one has been a nightmare with tummy issues since he was born! He was on Aptamil comfort which worked for a few weeks but then I found he was screaming with his tummy to the point he was turning purple and he was struggling to pass wind and poo so I changed him to normal apatamil which was fine until his nappies every time I changed him his nappies were so full and it was just liquid and full of mucus there was well over 6 nappies like this a day! And he still screamed with his tummy

doctors suspect it’s CMPA so he has been given Aptamil pepti 1 so far he has been on it a week and he is screaming the place down in pain struggling to pass wind and only going for a poo once a day some days other days none at all! The doctors have told me to persevere for 4 weeks with this milk but he can’t go on like this it’s obvious he is in agony it’s horrible seeing him like that

just wondering if anyone has any advice who have experienced similar with their wee ones cause I’m at wits end

Sounds like he's really struggling. I'd go back to the GP, film LO before you go and show the GP.

The milk he's been prescribed still contains milk but is hydrolysed. Some babies are fine with this if their allergy isn't severe but it sounds as though your DS needs a completely milk free formula.

I'd also ask to be referred to a Paediatric Dietician, if I remember correctly the NICE guidelines say the GP should do this if CMPA is suspected.

I'd also give the Allergy UK Helpline a call to see if they can offer any advice Flowers

My little one was the same, we ended up on aptamil pepti after the one he was on was discontinued

we were on it for 2 weeks and it was hell, he was absolutely miserable and wouldn’t settle at all. We couldn’t get back in with the GP as the one we had to see had gone off on sick and no one else would help (horrible doctors which we’ve since left), anyway we eventually got an appointment after nearly 3 weeks (and lots of tears from me) and the day of the appointment he stopped. I was ready to go to war for a new formula! He was suddenly incredibly settled and the happiest little guy and stayed that way until he started on soya milk at 1

im not saying your little one is the same, but they do take 2 weeks to get the old milk out of their system and to settle. If you’re not happy though, definitely keep talking to the GP
