Loss of appetite

Hi, I’ve lurked on Mumsnet for some time but this is my first post.

I have a nearly 5 month old son, he tracked small throughout pregnancy and was born just under 6lb. His weight gain has always tracked with the curve he’s just a very low percentile.

I wasn’t too bothered as long as he gained weight, he’s just small and that’s who he is. he’s hitting all other milestones, babbling, laughing, rolling & his newest party trick blowing raspberries. He seems a very happy smiley baby.

For the last month his appetite has completey dropped. He was having 5 6oz bottles a day. Now it’s a struggle to get 3/4oz in him. This morning he woke up after 12 hours with no bottle and only took 3 oz.

He had a cold over Christmas and has been teething but it just seems to be he has no appetite. He doesn’t cry he just drinks 3oz and spits out the bottle refusing to take it back. He’ll then happily babble away.

I’m trying not to worry as he’s happy but his weight gain has slowed and he didn’t really have the wiggle room for that to happen. It’s starting to really distress me and I’m getting upset multiple times a day when he doesn’t finish bottles.

He is under the GP for reflux but they keep giving telephone appointments rather than actually seeing him. Health visitors advice is just little and often but if he doesn’t want it what can I do.

Ive waffled a lot here but has anyone had anything similar?

Thank you

Hello,

No advice from me but just to say I'm in the same position as you so totally know how you feel.

My.5month old is dropping centiles. He was exclusively breastfed until he started dropping centiles and then I was advised by a Paediatrian to add 2 X 100ml high calorie formula a day on top of breastfeeding. It takes me practically all day to get the formula in him. He can't drink more than 2.5 Oz at a time.

Still under Paediatriacs trying to figure out what's happening. I think it's reflux. But I'm so stressed and everyday is a struggle.
