Is this mastitis?

I breastfeed DD2 who is 7 months old but two days ago I gave her one bottle of formula in the day time and that day she missed her last nap so went to sleep for the night at 5:30pm. This meant by the evening my breasts were really full and she stirred around 10pm for a feed, emptying them.
The next afternoon (yesterday) I started to feel feverish - cold, achy body that only went away with paracetamol.
Still feel the same today but slightly nauseous too, last dose of paracetamol hasn’t helped as much.

I can’t feel any lumps (blocked ducts) on my breasts and don’t have any red or tender areas on them.
I’ve had a blocked duct before with DD1 around 5 years ago and felt the same, but had a lump in my breast which I was massaging frequently, using warm compresses and feeding DD more.

I’m wondering if I have a mild case of mastitis, even though I can’t feel any blocked ducts?

I also have an ulcer in my mouth and always get them when I’m run down / have a cold, but other than that and the above, I don’t think I have any other symptoms (e.g a cough which could be a chest infection, or sore throat being tonsillitis).

If I can’t feel any lumps in my breasts, could it still be mastitis? Or likely to be something else?

Thanks

It sounds like you’re run down so keep an eye on your breasts and keep fluids up etc.
If you do develop symptoms of mastitis, the treatment guidance has changed in the last year or so, to a more gentle approach, don’t massage too hard if you do have mastitis. A lactation consultant told me as the area is inflamed ibuprofen works well on mastitis.
Either way hope you feel better soon.

Sounds more like a flu… mastitis without breast pain or a lump or some kind of bruising etc is unlikely.

It was on the Facebook Breatsfeeding Yummy mummies page. I think it was linked to the NICE guidelines. Hang on and I will see. I know the protocol has changed recently. Ish

Thanks all. Woke up today with a slight cough so maybe it is something viral after all.
Just strange as I don't get temperatures often and when I do, it's usually for an illness that requires antibiotics.
But other than the chills/achy feeling, I feel fine!
