Colief

My son has always had loose mucousy nappies since birth. From about 3 weeks old he had terrible colic too. He was breastfed for 4 weeks, I went to the doctor several times and they suggested going dairy free, I did this for about a week but it didn't change anything, I felt he got worse. I then put him on formula and have colief drops- it was like having a different baby. No more hours of screaming and crying! He is now 3 months old still has colief in every bottle but also still has mucousy nappies, normal yellow colour but quite loose. They are bad smelling but kind of always been like that. I tried to cut down the drops a couple of weeks back and the crying increased and explosive nappies started I went back to the doctors and they gave me Pepti 1 formula to try for CMPA but after 1 bottle he screamed for 4 hours so I didn't give anymore. In 3 months by baby has probably had 6 weeks of being happy after colic, RSV on oxygen in hospital too. Poor baby. I don't want to see him upset anymore. I've since put him back on the 4 drops dose, his poo is still loose and mucousy but he is not unhappy or squirmy, he is in fact a very happy baby. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I still consider CMPA or lactose intolerance or does it seem he just has a immature digestive system still? Just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing....
