Can someone please tell me this is normal!!

i know the pooing bit is quite normal for a breast fed baby but i cant ever remember ds1 doing smelly trumps until he was much older, they smell a bit like meconium!!!

dd had stinky farts from a very early age - did lots of unneccesary nappychanging thinking 'god that must have been a poo'

when the poo comes it will be a whopper

oh good, well not good but you know what i mean!!! i'm getting through more nappies than when he was pooing!! have to admit i'm glad of the reduction in washing, his pos are quite explosive!! not looking forward to the next one though!!

my dd is like a smiling assassin with her farts. seriously she seldom poos every 7 -10 days also bf. she is 5.5 months and has been the same since birth so don't worry too much if she isn't pooing every day just think that it shows how little waste there is from your breast milk. my dd however suffered with painful wind till quite recently but that has abated but the smell remains/lingers!

In a bf baby it is normal not too poo for days and days, ds used to poo every 10 days like clockwork. He had really smelly wind also. It is exactly because there is less waste from bm than other food/drink.

Olliesmummy i have exactly the same problem, my DS2 is 8 weeks on sat and hasn't poo'ed for nearly three days as well, he is bf also and has a huge amount of wind, i was getting a bit worried so it's reasuring to see i'm not the only one on poo watch! I think he's saving it up for when we go out in a bit and then we'll have a mini explosion !!!

olliesmummy2005 · 16/03/2008 17:45

hes pooed!!!! and lots of it!!

thanks for all your support, sorry not posted sooner, been super busy!!!

smallwhitecat have you tried infacol or, this is a bit extreme but my ds is having cranial osteopathy for feeding problems but he used to reaaly suffer with trapped wind and is now fine, its expensive but ifshes really suffering it might be worth a go!

leesmum has yours pooed yet??!!

xx

DS is 8 weeks and didn't poo for nearly 4 days... when he did we had 3 very full nappies in about 6 hours!

He's now pooing erratically (sometimes every few days, then plenty yesterday and today). I figure I won't worry unless he gets more than a week and his wind seems worse than normal.

leesmum · 17/03/2008 08:03

Olliesmummy we also had a massive one on sat!! and it stunk the house out!!

I have been doing a bit of baby massage every day and even though i don't know if it helps he loves it and it really relaxes him.

He is a very windy baby and you would think i'd been giving him pints of bitter going of the smell from his bum
