7 month old refusing food after illness

Hi,

Our 7 month old caught a nasty Adenovirus that completely wiped him out for the first 3-4 days. We are now on day 11 and the only symptom that remains is a nasty cough which goes all day and all night.

He’s always been a great eater and is in a high percentile for his age. But since this virus hit he has had minimal formula and solids. At the moment he is probably doing about 40-50% of his usual formula intake, but next to no solids and although he looks interested when they are offered he turns his head away and refuses to eat anything.

Luckily his hydration is good due to increased water intake and the GP is happy with the progress. But I just can’t shake this concern over the lack of interest in his formula and solids, he’s currently lost 2lb in body weight and the progression back to normal is painfully slow. Everyone has been telling me that they’ve never known a baby of his age to be off his food for 11 days and I’m concerned it’s going to become a habit!

Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice? Would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you had a UTI test? When my little one was off solids / fluids after an illness it was because of that.

Has he improved any @Agoo23?

Thanks @Lndnew , we haven’t had a UTI test, but oddly after a posted he started making miraculous improvements. Typical!

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto yes, his appetite has come back with a vengeance! He’s much happier in himself, I guess he was still shaking the virus off
