Reflux/ Allergy?

Hello,

My son is 5 weeks and has a reflux. He has the following symptoms:

fussy and cries during feeds (have to keep stopping)
Cries when swallowing
Sick after feeds
hates being laid flat
Arches back after feeds (burps fine)
Always has hiccups
Cant catch breath

Because of all of that I put him onto C&G comfort milk with added Carobel.

It helped massively however he then had very clay like poo with blood and mucus in which he struggled to get out so I stopped using carobel but now he has the opposite.. runny poo!

does this sound like an allergy or simply just a reflux? Any advice would be appreciated :D

thanks! X

Hi op, it sounds like reflux. Allergies tend to present with skin issues, and mucous in the poo. Stopping during feeds is recommended for a bottle fed baby so they don't drink it too fast.
Have you got a sling? It can really help babies that are uncomfortable lying down. It's quite common for them to be more settled upright and tends to get easier the bigger they get.

Allergies tend to present with skin issues

Absolutely not true. I have CMPA and do not get skin issues with it.

Have a read of this from Allergy UK and see if the symptoms sound similar.
