Really sorry if been done before but I can't find any reasonably recent threads about this. Can I eat peanut butter while bf-ing? I know the advice has changed on this recently. I get hayfever so would that make any difference? TIA.

i think the advice is the same as when you're pg - avoid if history of allergies but otherwise ok? i've got hayfever too so avoiding it, but i REALLY miss it!!

I stopped eating peanuts whilst pregnant because of the allergy thing but then heard that there was no actual evidence to back up claims. Therefore I am back on the peanut butter and still happily breastfeeding my 7 month old ds!

I read recently that the advice to stop eating peanuts was introduced to try and bring down the cases of nut allergies but this has not happened if anything they have increased. So they are now saying there is no evidence to say that there is no need to avoid peanuts.

Pregnant and breastfeeding and still eating peanut butter. DD has no allergies - I blame breastmilk!

I gave up peanuts during pregnancy but not whilst bf - for one thing, ds started on nut butter (not peanuts - Almonds and cashew) on finger food at an early stage, and introduced peanut butter at about 2 with no problems...

I ate peanuts while I was pregnant with both, one has peanut allergy the other doesn't. That was before pregnant women were warned not to eat peanuts.

I avoided when pregnant and still while bf, ds2 is 14 months and I'm still craving peanuts hehe.

Allergies in family, I have asthma and dd and ds2 (who I'm bf) has an egg allergy. Plus hayfever.
