My LO is 5 months old and always suffered with reflux/sickness. She is EBF and currently dairy free for likely CMPA (trialled a couple of times but dietician isn't 100% convinced it's an allergy due to other factors at the same time - jabs/bugs/colds etc). Due to trial again next week!
Baby had a tongue tie noticed at birth but midwives and GP said it wouldn't be an issue as she was gaining weight. Fast forward a few months and with no let up in the sickness, we got her tongue tie assessed and subsequently snipped!
I know the guidance always says to keep baby upright for 30 minutes after a feed but how do you do that with a heavy, wriggly baby in your arms?! Also, she can be sick any time during the day, not just straight after a feed. It's putting a bit of a downer on my maternity as I'm constantly thinking about her being sick, tummy time is difficult as she's sick/uncomfy and having to take a million bibs and muslins everywhere!
So if you're still reading...
How long after the tongue tie snip should we see a difference in reflux (if the tie was causing problems)?
Anything else we can do to try and ease the sickness? I'd rather not medicare unless absolutely necessary as we tried gaviscon and this caused constipation. LO is still gaining weight but recent weigh ins haven't been as much of a gain as usual.
Or can you just give me some reassurance that things will get better...please 🤣
Thankyou!!
