Anyone weaned off just one breast?

I'm currently tandem feeding our (just) 3 year old, who has it once a day at bedtime, and our 1 year old, who has it on demand, which is usually when she wakes in the morning and before nap/bedtimes.

I'm getting recurring mastitis, always in the same breast, although the lump forms in a different place each time. I'm going back to work soon, which will involve nights away from home and therefore more pumping, which I'm sure will make it worse. I'd rather not wean them entirely, especially the younger one, as I'd rather they give it up on their own, if possible.

Has anyone fed off just the one breast, allowing the other to go dry? I've read it's possible, just looking for furst hand experiences really

My DS2 refused one side from about 3 months old so that side dried up and I fed from the other side only for over a year. There was a size difference in my boobs while he was feeding but back to normal now. It worked absolutely fine for us.

Interesting. Maybe it's worth a try!
