Nursing Her Baby Doll

We went to visit the in-laws today.

My 18 month old DD stood in the middle of the living room, lifted up her velvet dress and pushed her baby doll under it to lie on her chest. What is she doing asked my MIL...nursing her baby I answered.

I am secretly quite proud of the fact that she had no idea what to do with the fake bottle the baby doll came with (she threw it on the floor and ignored it), yet she did know how she could feed her own baby.

Just melted my heart

that is very lovely.

It is even more cute when a boy does it. Ds used to use toy bottles as telephones (toy irons also come to that).

AAh thats lovely!
When I was still feeding DD and she started to cry DS2 would lift up his top and try to feed her!

hee hee, aren't they funny, my ds1 (2.6yo) can quite often be found 'using' my breast pump!!

Lomond · 09/03/2008 19:39

That's lovely, so many children have never seen anyone breastfeed it is no wonder the rates are so low.

chipmonkey · 09/03/2008 19:47

My sister and I used to do that with our First Love and Tiny Tears Dolls. Only trouble was, Tiny Tears wouldn't pee after being breastfed, only after being bottlefed!

That's so nice to hear! I was asked to bf my daughter in front of some children in a nursery a few months ago. They were all so interested and responsive, it was really nice to see. A few children were genuinly baffled at the idea of it, but they were the ones who stayed watching me the longest and asked loads of questions, so I was really chuffed. Wish more children saw it.

I had to pretend to be fed by ds today who was being a mummy goat

the other MNer in the room did not turn a hair, in fact I don't think she noticed

JingleyJen · 09/03/2008 19:53

I think that is lovely.. DS1 used to sit and breastfeed tigger whilse I fed DS2 I never suggested he should not do it.

hoxtonchick · 09/03/2008 19:53

we have a fab photo of me breastfeeding dd & ds sitting next to me doing the same with baby pom from the fimbles .

Hulababy · 09/03/2008 19:59

Very cute.

My Dd used to both breast ad bottle feed her babies when she was younger. Was always very sweet.

cmotdibbler · 09/03/2008 20:36

Thats so cute ! I haven't seen DS doing that, but I frequently get brought things to bf. I particularly enjoyed tandem feeding with a clockwork lobster in the bath

ChasingSquirrels · 09/03/2008 20:42

it is v cute isn't it - ds1 tummy-button fed (!!) his toy dog when ds2 was little.

Piffle · 09/03/2008 20:46

very sweet!!! Dd is 5.5 yrs and currently tandem feeds 6 girls... All sleep through though unlike the actual really breastfed 11 mth old brother of hers!

My parents were clearing out and found an old baby bottle. My dad offered it to DD1 (about 5 at the time) and she replied "No thanks, we're breastfeeding"!
