Tongue tie keeps reattaching

Has anyone got experience of a tongue tie which keeps reattaching? My baby has had 3 divisions now with the most recent 2 weeks ago however I have significant concerns it is reattaching again. The provider said it didn’t look like it has been cut before, no scar tissue just completely healed back into place. We are doing stretches but overnight it seemed to go from being ok to being tight again. I don’t know where to go from here, it’s affecting feeding with a terrible latch (bottle fed) reflux and struggling with weaning - now 8 months old and can’t handle solids just purée…. Any suggestions to help?

Yes this is a risk if you wait too long (it’s why we pushed for DS’ to have his cut before 12 weeks). You’ll need to understand why it’s happening - it’s probably because they aren’t cutting deep enough. Get a second opinion. It’s very possible the tongue is released but he has scar issue in which case exercises that lift the tongue will help.

I really would get a second opinion as Just says. DS' was never really picked up and then we decided, quite wrongly, not to have it divided. He was the same with fussy feeding and purées. Also gad awful sleep and had to have several stints at SaLT.

It could be possible that the most recent division is a previously missed tie hence no scar tissue?

hi, I know this was a while ago but I am having the exact same issues with my Daughter, she has had her tongue tie cut 3 times!! Did it get any better? X

My DS had it cut 3 times. They said there was still some tie left after the last. I breastfed him until 2 and a half though. It got easier as his mouth got bigger.

It has been linked to other issues though, such as enlarged adenoids and muscle tightness in the neck. I also suspect it causes speech issues still at 7.
