My 8 month old DS has always been a fussy feeder - I stopped BF totally at 4 months as he seemed to not particularly enjoy it, I initially started on Aptamil but he was very fussy with his bottles (he'd had ebm from about 6 weeks), I changed his formula to C&G at 5 months and he seemed a bit better but would go through fussy periods, he started well on solids and ate everything I gave to him then got ill and refused to eat savoury, now will only eat food from a jar (not fed from a jar though so I really don't know how he tells the difference!) or finger foods. He has 3 bottle feeds a day and 3 meals, however he has gone from 8oz each feed to 1-4oz each feed even for his evening bottle, he now sometimes wakes to feed at night but still will only have 3 or 4oz, he also hates drinking water or juice (which I tried reluctantly to get him to have some liquids!) I've tried bottles, a normal beaker, beaker without a lid, easyflow beaker, follow on milk and even cows milk this morning!!!!!!

Any advice, I know he will always be fussy but I need to get some liquids in to him!

Oh and his weight gain has always been great - 75th centile.

how heavy is he?

He was weighed about 3 weeks ago and was 20lb 15oz, he has always been a very good weight.

the only thing i can think is that he might be filling up on solids too much. i always gave milk before i gave solids for this reason. i was more bothered about him finishing a milk feed at this age than a solid meal. i think at the age ds had three 6 oz bottles a day.

In the morning he has a milk feed before breakfast, his afternoon bottle is 3 hours after his lunch and his evening bottle is 2 hours after his dinner, I reduced his portion sizes when he stopped drinking as much milk as I thought maybe he was filling up to much on solids - now he just eats and drinks less!

how much milk would you say he averages a day? they do cut down on milk when they start on solids so it's probably just that.
