stopping expressing/topping up

My dd is 5 weeks old and after weight loss of 15% of birth weight on day 5 and many tears I have been expressing four hourly and topping up with a mixture of ebm and formula of 30ml every four hours, after advice from the midwife. My dd is now gaining weight (slowly but steadily) and I am extremely tired of expressing and topping up. I think I'm developing repetitive strain injury in my wrist from the pumping!

Is it ok just to stop and exclusively breast feed? Or how do I wean her off? Expressing has never been easy - I generally got half to one ounce each time, and never felt milk let-down while expressing. I also found it quite uncomfortable.

Any advice gratefully received!

sorry not clued up on ml - how much is that? 1 oz?

I would think you would be okay to stop topping up but probably best to drop the top ups slowly rather than all in one day so your supply can build back up

Best bet is to call one of the BF helplines

Yes, 30ml is just over 1oz. Thanks for the numbers I'll give them a try
