12 Week Old - Weight Query

Hello!

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience to this. My almost 12 week old was 10lbs 10oz at her 6 week check. 4 weeks later she was weighed by someone from our Community Infant Feeding team (for reassurance as we were having some breastfeeding struggles) and that weight came in at 12lbs 9oz.

Today, my HV weighed her for the 12 week check (2 weeks later) and she is at the exact same weight, not even a decimal out!

My HV suspects an anomaly with the scales as of course those two weights came from 2 different sets of scales. She is coming back on Friday to check if she has gained any.

What do we think hive mind? Scales issue or weight plateau?

She was 7lb 10oz at birth (9th percentile) then was plotting the 50th percentile. The 10 week weigh had her jump to almost the 75th!

I am currently trialling 2 weeks dairy free due to strange nappies, but otherwise she’s a happy and mostly content wee thing!

I'd say it was the scales. We had a very similar blip with DD then the HV started panicking.

How is she in herself? Is she sleepy or is she bright and alert at times?

My suspicion is that it was the previous weight, with the centile jump, that was possibly dodgy. A reweigh sounds sensible. If a similar weight, then they'll probably want to recheck in a week or two, to make sure gaining from now.

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto Totally normal! She looks like she’s ready to crawl off my lap and play with her sister 😂

I wouldn't worry then. Hungry babies can be sleepy and quiet or very screamy. I really would blame the scales Wink

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto Thanks so much 🥰 will update the thread with what happens at the HV visit!

Thanks so much for everyone’s replies! She has gained 50g in 2 days so is gaining and it looks like there was an issue with the previous set of scales. 🙌 relieved!
