Expressed Milk Questions

Can anyone clarify for me because I am unsure:
If one has a couple of frozen packets of frozen EBM when it comes to thawing them can one then put both milks in the same bottle for baby to have.. and on a similar theme.. when expressing say if I get not much from one expressing session, if I then later express into a different bottle when its been in the fridge can I then mix both bottles? (assume not to express straight into a bottle that's already been in the fridge because of the different temps.)

Hope this makes sense, bit rushed

When expressing during the day, you can add each bit of expressed milk to the same bottle stored in the fridge - but you must use or freeze it before 24 hours* from the first expression. You don't need to worry about the different temps, as long as your container is clean and sterile - breastmilk is naturally sterile anyway.
I can't see why you couldn't combine two lots of thawed milk, as long as they have been properly stored and frozen, I think you have to use it within 24 hours as well.

I hope this is correct if it's not someone will correct me

*some same 48 hours. But best be safe than sorry methinks!

There's some useful info on kellymom Milk Storage. Scroll down the page and it answers the questions you asked.

Thanks ladies.. I thought I'd read the kellymom page properly, but now having the time (babe asleep) was able to read the answers you pointed me to bouncing turtle!
