Anti reflux formula diarrhoea

My 4 weeks old has been struggling with reflux and trapped winds.

We tried pretty much every trick but nothing seems to work, she's even on Omeprazole but it didn't do much.

So I've tried the anti reflux formula from Hipp, and it really soothe her reflux. No more pain, way less vomiting and spitting up BUT it gave her really bad diarrhoea... she's been up all night in pain because of that.

I'm utterly gutted because I had finally found something that helped her reflux!

Did anyone experience that? I have no idea what to do anymore. Infacol soothed her winds but made the reflux worst. So when I fix one, I make the other issue worst...

I've tried:

  • Keeping her upright for 30 min
  • Burping her regularly during feed
  • Elevating her bed
  • Gaviscon (did nothing)
  • Spacing her meals and making sure she's not overeating (recommended by Pediatrician)
  • Omeprazole
  • Infacol (great for winds, bad for reflux)
  • Dentinox (did nothing)
  • Anti reflux formula (great for reflux, bad for her tummy)
  • Dr Brown bottles (not sure it did anything)

The only thing that seemed to work for us was colief. And aptamil comfort milk, but like you say that gave him the stinkiest wind and poos ever x

Has anyone discussed the possibility of CMPA with you?

I did read quite a bunch about it, we mentioned it to the paediatrician who doesn't think it can be that but told us to give a go to Neocate if we wanted.

She does have quite a lot of the symptoms, except for the poos (they have been absolutely fine until this episode).

But the way she reacted to the anti reflux formula makes me wonder if she doesn't have at least an intolerance (she vomited an entire bottle just now, even though we switched back to Hipp organic - her systems is still trying to get rid of it).

It's not really called an intolerance anymore. It is an allergy, it's non-IGE with delayed symptoms rather than IGE which has immediate symptoms.

Have a look at the link I posted and I would definitely try to persevere with the Neocate Flowers
