Harvesting colostrum

So with my first I didn’t even know harvesting colostrum was a thing so never done it and he was formula fed! Currently 37+4 with my second and was told by the midwife I could start at 37 weeks!

fhe first two nights harvesting I got 1ml each night! Past 2 nights I have got maybe a drop or 2! Just wondering if this is normal? To have good days and bad days?

I do have a pump I’ve been using but tried hand expressing tonight but I only got a few drops!

just wondering if it’s normal, thanks 😊

Its very common not to get any at all, so to get a few ml is great! I was advised not to use a pump as the colostrum is so thick and such small amounts that it isnt worth it. There are some great videos online to help but i understand that hand expressing is the best way to go.

Im pretty sure that colostrum harvesting brought on my labour though so make sure your bag is packed 😅 (i speak from experience... mine was not!!)
