Getting worse on Aptamil pepti 1

Hi all.
My DS is now on aptamil pepti 1 as we are wondering does he have a cows milk allergy. Has all the symptoms so Doctor has prescribed this for him. Honestly he’s just so unsettled and seems to be in pain, he’s crying and nighttime is awful. His little spot rash has got even worse!. Constant bringing up bottles too, sometimes spit up or can be projectile. Started off with sounding like he had a cold and has progressed from there from 1.5 weeks old. He’s nearly 5 weeks old. I know it can take time for his little body to adjust and has only been on it one day but his spots have gotten even worse! Just wondering has anyone else had the same thing? I know it’s different for every baby. Some people have suggested goats milk instead?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I feel like the worst mum in the world and it’s so upsetting seeing him this way.

I'd go straight back to the Gp. Sounds like he needs a DF formula and a referral to the Allergy Clinic and a Paediatric Dietician.

Good luck OP Flowers

My son is exactly the same he’ll be 6 weeks next week and we’ve been on aptamil Pepti 1 for a week now the first few days his symptoms became better and we got some slight relief but now his symptoms are back and worse than ever. Doctors say it can take 2 weeks but I’m definitely thinking of taking him back come Monday. Hang in there mamma I know the horrendous guilt when they’re crying and almost nothing you do works I’d definitely give it a few days and if nothing changed go back the doctors xx

I'd take him back too @Cocolouisaxxx.

He could be ethic to the rapeseed or the coconut or just need a completely DF formula Flowers

My son is 10 week old. He's been on aptamil pepti since 6 weeks. He has gotten better but I asked for a referral to the pediatric dietician "for weaning adivce".

Spoke to the yesterday and they instantly said aptamil pepti is crap and they will request that DS is changed to a DF milk ASAP (they want him on one with prebiotic in as he is now constipated).

Go back ask for a milk change and if they refuse ask to be referred to the dietician for weaning advice. That will get things changed. I wish you all the best as its bloody hard work with a baby that has a milk allergy.

Thanks so much everyone! DS has been on goats milk now and is a completely different baby. We are now at 7 weeks and the only thing we are dealing with now is the reflux and infant dyschezia ( the ID will go as he figures it out himself, my DD had the same). Doctors have been a nightmare and don’t get me started on the health visitor who has gone MIA and can’t get in touch at all despite several messages and voicemails left! To say this has been stressful and so upsetting would be an understatement! Thank you all so much for your kind responses, I’ve had more help here than anywhere else!.. The goats milk seems to be working wonders, he’s gained plenty of weight and seems a lot happier, fingers crossed DS continues on this path. I’ll keep everyone posted in a few weeks as to how he’s getting on. We are going to cranial osteopathy in October which has also been highly recommended so I’ll comment a bit on that too.
