8 month old fussy with solid food

Hi, I'm at my wits end and don't know where else to turn.

My DD is almost 9 months old and has always been fussy with food since day 1. Since we started weaning her at 5.5 months old, it's been no different. Up until 2 weeks ago, she was doing quite well with solids. We've been doing a mix of spoon feeding and BLW.

She was doing well with finger foods and we'd top her up with puree to make sure she had enough food. In the last few days she keeps dropping her food on the floor and won't take any food with the spoon. I read online somewhere that between 8-10 months, babies can refuse food form a spoon as part of asserting their independence. I've tried putting food on the spoon and then giving the spoon to her, this occasionally works but she soon starts throwing the spoon to the floor.

My DH and I think she's teething as she keeps putting her fingers in her ears a lot, so we give her calpol, ibuprofen, bonjela etc and doesn't seem to make a difference to the meal times.

I'm at the point where I'm dreading every meal time and I don't want to make any food as I know it will most likely end up on the floor.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give, thank you 🫶🏻
