breastfeeding and periods - is this normal?

DD is only 6 weeks old, i am exclusively bfing and today i got my period. Am I just in an unlucky minority? I thought it would be ages yet before this happened

also, i'm sure i have read on here that people find their dc's get really fussy when they have their period and are bfing. DD has been really out of sorts today, for no apparent reason. Anyone have experience of this?

determination, I was doubly unlucky then - had periods back and a baby who did the 'mummy is my dummy' thing, all night every night. Still have the eye-bags to prove it!

mine came back at 9 weeks , but were every seven weeks until last cycle when DD was 8.5 months.

With my 2nd child they didn't come back for 18 months. the others were well over a year.

You might find it takes ages for the next period to come as even when they do return they can be very irregular. Bad luck though.

mine came back at six weeks, and i'm feeling suspiciously like i'm about to have my third since dd was born - she will be 12 weeks on sunday so that's one every 2 weeks....sob

ara, that doesn't sound quite normal to me. I would get things checked out by the doc. Although mine came back at 9 weeks, they were then every seven weeks until recently and my DD is 9 mo old.

I thought my periods had come back after about six weeks of exclusive breastfeeding,as I had what appeared to be a normal period which lasted about 5 days however I didnt get another one till my ds was about 5 months old and then they took another few months to become regular.
