Constipation on comfort milk?

My LO is 16 weeks old and has been on Aptamil comfort for the last 4 weeks. Recently we've started to notice his poo's are a lot more solid and having more of a shape than what they used to and sometimes it seems that he is struggling to push them out (tmi sorry). Spoke to our HV and she suggested that it may be the comfort milk causing it? She said even though it is meant for constipation, the thicker milk may be why he's struggling to pass them and they're becoming a bit more firmer as opposed to his previous poo's.

Has anyone else experienced this and offer any advice? I'm hesitant to put him back on the regular milk as he was so unsettled with it and had terrible stomach pains, but I also don't want him to be constipated or In pain when trying to go the toilet either 😩

When you say he's struggling to poo, is he just going red and struggling or is he in pain and crying or screaming?

Did the HV mention the possibility of CMPA?
