Is this Reflux?

Hello..

my baby is 12 weeks old and we have struggled with feeding from the start but he seems to be getting worse.

he was combi fed for 5 weeks (mostly formula) and formula fed since. We have used aptamil right through but he has always been sick after his bottles. Sometimes a little sometimes a lot! He also only poo’s every 2-4 days. The past few days his vomiting and balking seem to be getting worse so we have swapped him to aptamil advanced last night but he is still vomiting a lot and it smells like proper sick. I am just wondering if this is normal, reflux or he is genuinely sick? And what’s best to help him. TIA

It could be a problem with the milk, there are enough threads about babies who have problems with both Aptamil since they changed the formula and with Kendamil although I realise that they are made by different manufacturers.

Do you think it could be CMPA?

Hello everyone, please give me your advice as I’m so confused! My little one is 6 weeks old, he seems to be suffering with reflux, initially he wasn’t vomiting and the GP prescribed gaviscon. This has made him not only constipated but he is now actually vomiting a lot?

I took him to the hospital today on the advice of the gp and they have said we are over feeding him and only to offer 2.5 ounces every 3 hours which sounds insane to me. He has remained on his centile and takes 4 ounces every 3/4 hours, if I try to lower this he is going to be even more angry.

His symptoms are
Coughing/spluttering when on his back
Angry during feeds
Unsettled after feeds
Vomiting
Congestion
Hiccups regularly

How much does he weigh @Ezmaii? Is he having much more than the 2.5 floz per pound on weight?

Although, I can't see how you're overfeeding if he's racking his centiles?

Can I ask which formula you're using?

Thanks so much for replying, he weighs just under 5kg and he has somewhere between 28-30oz in 24 hours depending on how he is feeling. He’s been on 4 ounces since 2 weeks on the advice of the midwife.

I changed him onto aptamil comfort to see if that helped, it didn’t change anything but he does seem to have no problems with it. I spoke to the HV after this post who said to ignore the doctor, but now I’m at a loss with the reflux! Not sure whether to just ride it out or insist on meds.

So how milk intake sounds more or less spot on.

If he's still having problems after the switch to comfort milk, I'd read of this on CMPA and see if you think the symptoms sound similar
