bf 4 week old with black poo

My bf 4 week old has had poo with loads of small black bits since last night. Is this anything to worry about? The midwife used to nod happily when I'd say his poo was yellow - I don't know what it means for it to be not yellow

I was thinking it could be because he had his tongue tie cut yesterday, and bled a lot. But he's been increasingly unsettled since the day before that and vomiting far more than usual, so don't want to miss a symptom I need to worry about.

Black bits in the poo can mean the baby has swallowed blood, MamaChris, their own or the mother's (from cracked nipples).....but get it checked out, by calling the HV, just to be sure.

thanks. will do. just discharged by midwives yesterday, so wasn't sure who to call.

good luck with the HV. this happened to my friend when her nipples got cracked, she got the fright of her life.

hv agrees it is probably swallowed blood from the tongue tie separation. as long as it clears soon, all fine and we can concentrate on improving his feeding
