Hello, so next weekend I have family coming to meet baby who will be 9 weeks old I want to go out and have a couple drinks with family.
MIL will be looking after baby and I have milk expressed that she can give her in a bottle.
But after a few drinks will I still be able to feed baby or will I have to Chuck what I express
Thanks.
Probably talking 5/6 drinks

It's MN so everyone will jump on horrified you are having one drink. It's really up to you - to be safe, you could chuck the milk, if you have enough already expressed. but the risk is very low, especially if you drink over a long period so it processes slowly.

I was told as long as I wasn't too drunk to hold the baby, I was fine to feed. This was by the breastfeeding staff at the children's centre.

Same as the poster above, I have been told by lactation consultants, NCT teacher and read articles suggesting that the amount of alcohol getting through to breast milk is minimal and it’s more about being sober enough to look after your baby responsibly.
