our 5 wk old ds trumps rather a lot and pulls awful faces or cries out each time as if painfull? Is this what all babies do?

Had this with DS2 and he seemed in terrible pain. It stopped when he was about 3 months as I recall.

IME, yes. Both DD and DS's facial expressions when producing bottie burps were studies in agony. With DD it stopped at three months and with DS at eight weeks.

My 8 week old DS can gurn for Yorkshire, and goes through the whole gamut of human passions when trying to get a fart out. He'll go from screaming to a gummy grin to a confused cross-eyed look in the space of about 10 seconds

my dd goes terrifyingly pale, and her eyes go all red and bloodshot - she looks like death for about 3 secs, then faarrrt and back to normal instantly!
