BLW - 8 months

Hi just wondering if anyone has any meal ideas for an 8 month old baby. We’re doing BLW as my daughter hates purées and being spoon fed. To be honest she’s hated food altogether until the past few days and has just started picking up finger foods and trying them. I’m just so confused on what to feed her as she has a milk and egg allergy. Any advice is appreciated!

Will she pick up wet foods?

Have you tried letting her feed herself things like:

Spag Bol made with EF pasta
Vegan Pancakes
Smooth nut butter or mashed avocado on toast.
Dahl & Rice
Cinnamon bagel, toasted with vitalite or Pure instead of butter
Violife cream cheese on toast with halved cherry tomatoes
Baby Pasty (lots of bought puff pastry is DF & EF).
Porridge fingers made with Oat milk or her favourite replacement milk
Vegan Pizza

And you could always buy some vegan Mayo and try her with a Tuna Mayo Sandwich Wink

How are you both getting on now @Daisysimply?

Thank you for the suggestions, really appreciate it! She’s very fussy with food and doesn’t really like much. I tried the vegan pancakes and porridge fingers but she wasn’t interested. Will make sure to give the others a go and see how she gets on :)

If she's allergic to two foods she's likely to be wary of new foods, probably because she'll associate food with pain and discomfort.

Like all babies though, you might have to offer a food several times before they accept it.

Yes that makes sense! She was the same with breastfeeding before I cut dairy out and refused to feed. Was very upsetting. Hopefully she’ll start enjoying her food more soon!
