After her crying herself to sleep as she had her first vaccines she started running a temp again and after the stressful ordeal of getting her to take calpol earlier today I didn’t want to wake her and cause more stress currently feeding her in her sleep and we’re on the last ounce so I had the idea of just putting the calpol in her milk is that ok?

Can't see why it would cause any problems, it all mixes together in the stomach anyway.

We have to do this as my little one projectile vomits taking medicine 🙃! Absolutely fine, but never ever try to guess at how much they have had if they don't finish the milk, just wait the full time until the next dose would be done. Sometimes it means you don't get it all in them!

It won’t hurt this time but as PP says don’t guess about how much she’s had.

Squirting it into their mouths gets easier so don’t give up.

It’s not a great idea to mix it with a bottle that might not be finished.
Swaddle the baby and slip the syringe between the cheek and teeth/gums so that it delivers right at the back of the mouth. Squeeze it in very very slowly. Then give her a bottle of milk/bf.

Calpol is thicker than formula so a very young baby might struggle to get it through the first size teats

DinnaeFashYersel · 01/08/2023 21:28

Sometimes it's just what you need to do.

But you are still best to try with the syringe first.

Take the teat off the bottle. put the dose of calpol directly into the teat so when the baby sucks it takes calpol directly thinking it’s milk!
