Thinking of switching to hipp organic

Hi my baby is on cow and gate, from about 2 weeks old she’s suffered from reflux and colic, constant crying especially during and after feeds I’ve heard of people switching to different formulas and them agreeing with their babies much better, I recently tried to switch her onto aptamil, but she completely refused to drink it I started mixing the two together and slowly adding more aptimel and less cow and gate, and even when she was drinking a full bottle of aptamil it was still hard to get her to drink it the feeds were going on forever and she dropped below her centile so I put her back on cow and gate and she started guzzling her milk again so I’m a little bit apprehensive and worried about trying switching her formula incase she doesn’t like this one either but I really believe this cow and gate just isn’t agreeing with her so I want to try hipp organic has anyone else’s babies who were fussy about new milk like the taste of hipp organic when switched onto it? Ps she doesn’t have a cows milk allergy

I think you're over thinking this

Cow & Gate and Aptamil are exactly the same milk (one is more expensive as they use the money for research)
All formula milks are essentially the same, they have to be, but you're right some agree with babies better than others.

Have you tried the cow and gate comfort?
Or tried infacol?

I used hipp organic and DS absolutely loved it - I wasn't able to BF for medical reasons - so this felt like the best formula option I could give him.

StillWantingADog · 25/07/2023 10:27

My ds2 preferred it. All worked out fine but IIRC it’s slightly more expensive than the others.

I had the exact same problem with my baba when he was first born he would cry all the time and would hardly poo it got put down to colic I ended up changing his bottles to the anti colic ones and he was originally on the cow and hate from birth so I changed his milk to the cow and hate comfort colic and constipation milk that worked a treat then when he started solids I put his back onto the normal cow and hate milk I know how stressed you must feel

Sorry I ment cow and gate* not cow and hate lol😂

My DD is nearly 5 now, but I switched her from Aptamil to Hipp and she was like a different baby overnight. She was terribly constipated and had awful wind on Aptamil but Hipp organic was much better for her digestive system.

We did find Hipp harder to find in the supermarkets though...

Another vote for HiPP. Was a bit trickier to get hold off but worked well for our DC.

adollopofthisandthat · 25/07/2023 10:52

we used to buy the hipp milk online...at one point Amazon and a few other places were selling it in bulk but I don't know if they still do?

Babytwodue · 23/08/2023 08:32

Hi! Did you make the switch? How did it go? Considering myself due to 3 week old constipation and wind issues

Lollibert · 23/08/2023 16:20

@Babytwodue she seems a lot better on hipp less episodes of colic and is easier to wind bht im not sure if that’s down to the milk or if she’s just gotten easier herself

I moved DD from Cow and Gate to Hipp and she began pooing again! She didn’t have an allergy though, just something about C&G didn’t suit her.

TheBeesKnee · 23/08/2023 16:44

It's funny that they're all supposed to be exactly the same and yet C&G didn't agree with my baby either!

Looking for some advice. My 13 week baby girl is on HIPP comfort milk (colic type) We believe she has silent reflux so I use the carobel thickener added to each feed.
Noticed such a difference her milk stays down without her been in discomfort.

I am unsure to whether I should I continue to keep her on the comfort milk or change to HIPP organic as I don’t know if the issue was ever colic.
I switched to the comfort formula to try anything to help her tummy after a month old as Kendamil milk didn’t agree with her.

thankyou :)

kweeble · 25/12/2023 06:29

There’s also Kendamil - you can buy the organic one online - it doesn’t use palm oil and is made in Cumbria.

PinkMimosa · 26/12/2023 09:26

@JadeU if she's better in it I would stick with what you're doing Smile

NewDogOwner · 26/12/2023 10:14

We did this. We switched to this and the Dr Brown bottles. Problem solved. We also put a wedge under the top of baby's mattress which is supposed to help with wind too.

i tried Hipp organic but we couldn't handle the smell with the reflux so we went with kendamil and got rid of the prep machine, my lo seemed to be a lot better

Sometimes it's the tiny bubbles that the Perfect Prep creates that can be the issue Wink

GoldFlick · 20/01/2024 09:07

What are you using now instead of the prep machine?
