hi everyone I have a 5.5month old we started weaning a couple weeks ago and since then he’s
Just went off milk he just want food all the time will eat of spoon no bother but doesn’t want to suck the only way to get the milk down him is when he’s tired and he drinks the whole bottle obviously this is now resulting in him waking up for a bottle in the night now which he didn’t before. Has anyone else found this? Do they eventually get used to both?
I know it’s not recommended before 6 months but HV told me it was basically up to me as he was showing all signs of being ready he can basically sit unaided for a bit before he falls to side.

How much food is he eating?

Just some porridge in the morning and then some purée veg at tea time no more than a few spoonfuls

I'd skip the porridge for a couple of weeks, just eat your breakfast whilst he naps and see if that encourages him to eat.

According to the NHS guidelines you don't need to off 3 meals a day until he here at least 8 months so dropping a meal now and reintroducing it later won't do him any harm at all.

Plus he needs the fat, protein and vitamins and minerals from his milk right now as he's growing at such a phenomenal rate Wink

The NHS guidelines are around 6 months, not exactly 6 months, so 5.5 months is absolutely fine don’t worry about that. Just always offer milk first and I wouldn’t give breakfast until maybe an hour after bottle so wake at 7am, 7oz bottle immediately, breakfast at 8.30/9. Re getting fussy with the bottle, what size teat are you using and could it be time to go up a size? 6 months is about the usual age to swap to the fast flow ones.

Still on size 2 I will maybe try him
With size 3 he's just acting like he's not hungry when he's not had any milk for ages it's so frustrating
