Uncomfortable Baby

Hi all,

Ive booked a doctors appointment but can’t get one until next Friday! My baby is 6 weeks old and is struggling with feeling uncomfortable and crying.

He started by choking on his feed (and after) a few times which really scared me. In the past few days, he now goes really stiff (kind of arching of his back) when I pause a feed to burp him and screams (red in the face) and doesn’t finish his feed , probably drinks 2-3oz. He hiccups a lot and gulps his feed down. I am using gripe water and changed to Aptamil Comfort (size 2 teat). I changed back to Aptamil 1 (size 2 - dribbles so use size 1) because couldn’t really see a major difference with the comfort but I’m really at a loss of what to do. He’s slept for about an hour today in total. Any advice?

Sounds like it could be CMPA? Do his symptoms sound anything like this?

If it does sound like those symptoms @Dotty23 I would call back the GP and say that you need sewing today, especially if you're not getting the required amount of formula into him.

@SiouxsieSiouxStiletto Thank you for your reply! I don’t feel that it is a milk allergy based on the symptoms I’ve read on the website. It’s very useful but the symptoms seem quite different. I’m not sure if it could be silent reflux possibly

With the CMPA l, they don't have to have all of the symptoms. I've got it and I've never had eczema with it for instance Wink

Usually reflux is a symptom rather than a diagnosis but do agree that it ciujd be that.

Another thing it could be is Tongue tie.
