He's really struggling to get a decent feed - I've tried the rugby ball position, saline drops but nothing is helping, and he's not settling because he's still hungry - should I give him a bottle of EBM??!!

Why do you feel that will make a difference? If he is on the breast properly he should be able to breathe the same as sucking a bottle.

Just though I would be able to feed him in more upright position?

Maybe easier than keep relatching? If you think it will help, give it a go

Certainly no reason not to if you think it would be better. You can breastfeed in an upright position too though by resting baby's legs between yours or in rugbyball hold without a pillow beside you. Hope his nose clears soon. You can buy a little mucous extractor from the chesmist to suck the snot out. Or you can do what I always did and roll the corner of a tissue and twist it around in the nostril and that used to catch the snot and pull it out. Also sometimes made baby sneeze which cleared the nose.

Is it because his nose is blocked beansprout?
Don't gag but dh use to have to suck our lo's snot out- it was the most effective way of clearing it!!
