So i'm exclusively bfeedig ds(12 wks), he does not have a dummy, he's fed v frequently, on demand, day and night.

Why have I got my period? I thought all this would mean they didn't start again?

Did you have a break between your blood loss after delivery, and this period?

I know that it just happens for some people -just bad luck. I read somewhere that unless you are feeding every 2 hours or more then the hormone levels change. This causes (for some women) return of periods, and fertility in some cases. It may turn out to be spotting, rather than a proper period. That's what happened to me after I had dd1, but she was older than 12 weeks. dd2 now 6 months, so expecting mine to return soon as well...

My son is 7 weeks old and I got what I think is a light period toady. loss from birth stopped a few weeks ago. Im bf 3 hourly but have given the odd bottle before bed.
Most annoyed as didnt expect them to return quite so soon!! Will definately need to remember to take iron supplement now as I was feeling knackered already without the added joy of this!!

Toady?? hmm. told you I was tired.

Yes, my post birth bleeding stopped at 2-3 weeks. He's been fed very nearly every 2 hrs - usually it's about 1 hr 45 but at night it's more like 3 hrs.

Does spotting just go away then?

sometimes you get one and then there's a really long gap before the next one. I think (trying to remember) I had one about 11 months and then didn't have another until about 14 months. They didn't get fully back to normal until about 18 months.

So you could cross your fingers that this is a one off!

I've got a light period ds is 14 weeks old now. But feeding during the day can go between 3 and 4 hours depending on naps. Rubbish i hate AF, but on a positive i used to get awful cramps before pregnancy but nada!

Yes re the spotting you might get a day or 2 of what looks like the start of a period or a light period, then it might stop. That was my experience anyway. I think it is common for your cycle to be a bit unsettled (in terms of regularity and heaviness/lightness) for a few months, especially if you continue to b/feed.

Actually my periods turned out to be much lighter and less problematic after I had had dd1. (after everything had settled down anyway)

sucks doesn't it? my periods returned at 7 weeks with ds2, despite breastfeeding on demand at least every 2 hrs day and night.
bah
