I've been feeding my 19 month old once a day for the last few months to go to sleep but since yesterday he's not fed at all and so he's now officially had his last feed HaloMy question is if he was just on 1 feed a day will I need to express or should it be a fairly easy transition to stop? I feel a bit headachey but not sure if related! Thank you!

Hi

Well done for feeding this long!

When my son stopped, he did similar and I didn't express. He just upped his food and that was that.

Amazing thank you! Hopefully it's the same for me as really don't want to express but obviously don't want to end up with mastitis!
Thank you, bittersweet stopping but definitely ready now!

Hi, I finished feeding about 14 months. We were down to just a morning feed and it phased out. If you pump you are telling your boobs to make more milk so it’s counter productive, just hand express for comfort if needed and after a couple of weeks the milk should stop.

Congrats on feeding for 19 months too, it’s hard work at times!

Thank you! I never expected to go for so long but here we are!
He sort of took my by surprise as I went out Friday and then yesterday I thought I'd try him with a little bottle of milk and a cuddle and he didn't even cry for it so I wasn't expecting to stop (or certainly not this easily!) but definitely taking advantage of it to do so. I'll see how I get on and maybe hand express if necessary but definitely won't pump!
Thanks so much for your advice Smile

DD stopped at the same age. I didn't express.and had no issues. You aren't making loooads of milk with a once-a-day feed anyway so should be fine!

I never really expressed apart from the early days when I'd catch letdown and give in a bottle so I can have an early night lol.

It is bittersweet but my god life is much easier on the other side!

Hope you're doing OK x
