Caffeine and breastfeeding

LO is 11 months and is up every 2 hours through the night. I'm drinking maybe 4 coffees.
Has anyone cut back on caffeine when breastfeedung and it improved baby's sleep?

Yes I did. I tried everything with Das and it was one of the few things that had any effect.

Kellymom has some useful information on caffeine here.

Are you thinking of doing some gentle night weaning once he reaches 12 months too?

My friend drank coffee while breastfeeding and I didn't say anything as everyone does things differently.

When I did eventually bring it up when she was having a bad time with her DDs sleep, she went onto decaf and it helped immediately - and she was raging at me for not saying sooner! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you for sharing. I'm going to give it a go. Something has to help.

I’m not BF any more but I had one caffeinated coffee with breakfast, and then decaf (tea as well) for the rest of the day.

Does she settle herself to sleep? My DS could only stay asleep once he has learnt to go to sleep on his own (sleep training).

Definitely worth cutting down the caffeine first though. Maybe try not to have coffee after mid day.

How long should it take before it has an impact?
