if you're not sore keep feeding as much as you can. Take ibuprofen for the fever and it will help if there is mastitis brewing. Rest as much as possible (in bed if that's practical). If you think you have mastitis go to the GP for ABs. Much sympathy - I kept getting mastitis with dc3 and I know how rough you can feel (even without the sore norks...)

How long since you gave birth?

3littlefrogs · 23/02/2008 19:18

Just concerned it might not be mastitis or flu.

ggglmpp · 23/02/2008 19:18

2 months

Have you got any pain, or tenderness anywhere else, or any vaginal bleeding or discharge? If you really don't have any signs of mastitis, I just wondered if you might have an infection elsewhere.

Pixiefish · 23/02/2008 19:28

sounds like mastitis.

Ibuprofen and feed baba.

Do you have redness on your breast? If so warm flannel on it adn try to push the redness/blockage out.

Personally I went to the doc's for AB's as soon as I got mastitis as it can turn nasty

Poor you. I think you are wise to get seen by doctor - you are still vulnerable to infection just 2 months after delivery - best not take any chances. I hope you feel better soon.

Pixiefish · 24/02/2008 08:14

Hope you got Ab's ggglimpopo as mastitis can get horrible. I was hallucinating and weak as anything with mine. Also had the worst shivers ever

Have just realised that I misunderstood your first post. I was reading "sans" as the french for "without". now realise that it was a typo. Hence my rather personal question about how long post partum. I was thinking of puerperal fever.

Clearly, my mind doesn't work the same way as normal people.

Hope you are feeling better now.

ggglmpp · 26/02/2008 09:42

No, you were right - it was sans! I was bloody ill saturday and sunday and took to my bed as I had a meeting in Paris yesterday that I couldnt change. I had an amazing recovery - drank loads and loads of water and herbal tea and coke and took paracetamol and this homeopathic stuff that the chemist suggested to dh. Still have a headache and stomach cramps (bloody odd symptoms!) but am much better! Thank you!

I am glad you are feeling better, but if the symptoms don't go away, please see the doctor again - it wouldn't do any harm to take a urine sample and maybe swab from the cervix just to make sure no infection. You really can't be too careful these days.
