Hakka question

2kidmum · 27/06/2023 21:23

Im collecting milk with the hakka, not using much suction, just enough to make it stick on there and collect let down.

My question is if this is ok to give to my daughter as someone told me this isnt fatty enough??

She would only be having a bottle regular once a week when introduced just so she can stay familiar with it and if i need to leave her at home to go to an appointment, ect so this wouldnt be a daily bottle 😊

Absolutely fine, all milk that comes out your boob is fine for baby, no matter how you collect it.

Obviously not if on certain Medications or have been drinking excessively...

Look up le leche league or Kelly mom for the facts

Absolutely fine. I get really annoyed when people trot out made up pseudo science about breastfeeding! Fwiw, if you refrigerate the milk collected from the haha you will clearly see the layer of fat collecting on the top

I highly recommend reading that article about foremilk and hindmilk imbalance. Basically, unless your baby shows the signs of lactose overload listed there, you don't need to worry about your milk being not fatty enough. If you are worried about your milk being too watery, all you need to do is pump just few minutes longer with the hakaa.

How to Fix Foremilk Hindmilk Imbalance

Usually, when foremilk moves towards the nipple, it will combine with any milk left in the breasts previously; this resulting mixture is the perfect food for any baby. BUT. If you struggle with an oversupply, things could get a little tricky.
