Cracked nipple due to breastfeeding, how to let it heal

Hi all, currently one week postpartum and experienced a bad latch to my left breast for the first couple of days. This has made feeding on this breast very sore. My midwife checked out our latch and can see that everything is now as it should be, but my problem is, little one feeds so often it's not giving my nipple time to recover. what do I do next please? Use a nipple shield just on this breast? Pump this breast and don't offer any milk from it for the next couple of days? It really needs time to heal. There's two small blisters on the nipple, and a very small blood blister.

Have you any Lansinoh cream? I bf 11 years ago but that was the magic cream then
Good luck

It will heal actually pretty quickly if you apply Lanisoh after every feed, and then let it air (sit topless in bed). You can also get silver nipple cups which promote healing, and there are some Multi Mam compresses which can be helpful. You'll be surprised how fast it'll heal in 24 hours if you leave it open to the air all the time.

I had this and I used the Lanisoh cream before and after every feed. And also a nipple shield made the pain less. Once it had healed I stopped using the nipple shields.

I had this and I just fed from the other side and pumped from it to let it heal. Took 4 days.

Lansinoh before and after, air and hot compresses. Important to get latch right now so that once healed it won't recur. It's hard but just get to the next feed, it will pass. I found laid back feeding position ace at this time and within a day things were already so much better. Best of luck.

Thanks everyone! I have purchased the cream everyone has said about and just applied, it's already seeming miles better than the coco mama stuff I've been using. I shall continue to apply the new stuff before and after feeds before I look at purchasing some nipple shields! X
