how many breastfeeds at a year old?

DD has gone from being a sucky, never off my boob baby, to only wanting bedtime, overnight and morning feeds. She takes both sides, 3-5mins each at bedtime. A side for a couple of mins a couple of times a night. And then both sides in the morning again. I feel that if I didn't offer, she wouldn't notice - except on the overnight comfort feeds. And that makes me a bit sad .

What's normal at a year? Is it likely she'll want to cut these feeds out too soon?

Every child is different when it comes to self weaning from breast feeding.

In one sense it's great that you don't have to fight to get her off the breast! She's such a lucky girl to have a mum who responds to her cues like you do.

But I totally understand your sadness as it's the end of an era where your body nourished hers and the irreplaceable closeness that comes from breast feeding.

But you'll always be close. And you'll always have the knowledge that you gave her a superb nutritional start in life.

But, sorry, I meant to say that it could all change next week and she could be back on to the breast with gusto!
