Silent reflux on omeprazole

Hi can anyone advise please

my little girl has had bad wind from birth and could only sleep for short periods during the day with all the signs of silent reflux she was put on omeprazole and it has made a good difference however she’s nearly 5 months and I’m still increasing the omeprazole when I had previously thought she would have grown out of it by now.

im confused as to whether it’s wind or silent reflux and I feel it’s a burp trying to get out that’s bringing up acid &/or milk even though I wind her religiously and keep as upright for a long time after bottles

after her last feed it takes atleast 3 hours before she can lie down in her next to me even though it’s tilted as much as possible. Is this normal? She seems to get 20 mins about an hour after her last bottle then 10/15 mins sleep before the next bottle. And iv always though the acid seems to be coming up more just before another bottle is due even though that’s every 4 hours
I have started to wean earlier as advised by my dr for silent reflux but I haven’t really noticed any improvement
thanks so much and any advice is so much appreciated

Hi that sounds emotionally exhausting. I remember having to sleep sitting up with my son. He’s 3 months now and I still sit him up for around half hour after a feed. He was said to have silent reflux. He used to refuse bottles and was always gagging and choking on his milk as it came back up. The milk use to come up so quick he would be gasping for air. I tried anti reflux milk and gavison and it just made it worse. The gavison made the contents of his stomach so thick that he would just choke and gag even more. He had terrible congestion, he’s nose was so blocked I’m assuming from the milk coming up in his nose causing it to get irritated. He was always coughing and hardly slept at all. I used to have to feed him an 1oz an hour and no matter what I did i couldn’t get him to drink any more. I was back and forth to the GP and went to A&E a few times with him refusing the bottle. I was always told the same thing it’s reflux you have to ride it out. They kept pushing me to use omprezole but I kept asking if I should change his milk and was always told no. After another trip to the doctor and her telling me he had a virus when I knew he didn’t. I got in touch with my health visitor and she advised to change his milk for one for cows milk allergy and it was a life changer. I now have a completely different baby. I’m not 💯 convinced he has a cows milk allergy, I not sure why I think that 🤷‍♀️ but I know the change of milk help. Obviously babies are different so what worked for mine may not work for yours. What things have you tried? And what support do you have? Can you get in touch with the health vistors as they have the most experience in baby feeding?
