Gripe water for under 5s

Hi,

I searched on here for alternatives to Infacol, and "Gripe Water" came up as a good alternative; it's a lot cheaper, so we thought we'd give it a go.

Having a closer look at the box it says "If your child is less than 5 years old or suffer from a liver or kidney disease, please do not take this medicine unless recommended by your doctor."

You can see the box and safety leaflet here:

We bought this off the shelf in B&M and the packaging seem to clearly market for babies, and everything else in the safety leaflet suggest it is for under 5's; so what's going on; do I need to speak to a doctor??

Thanks,
Ben

Just read that on our bottle. Its a good question, but I guess they are covering themselves for whatever guidelines apply to the ingredients.

I've spoken to doctors, midwife and health visitor about it and no one suggested I shouldn't be using it.

You could speak to your GP or pharmacist if you want to be sure, but it's been around for decades and many people swear by it.

Oh!!! I used it and didn't see this on the pack. I loved the funny taste, swore by it for my babies but I think it's quite a traditional product so who knows
